Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- The Quality Coordinator will act as the lead for Quality support and provide direction to the Quality Staff team & Machine Line Check associates.
- Task and Responsibilities will include making sure we are in Quality Compliance with the Quality of our part and processes.
- Work with the Quality Supervisor to ensure we have Quality coverage where needed.
- Support production by helping them to understand who has met the Quality requirements in each area to perform assigned task.
When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
Safety & Environmental:
- This position will help support Safety & Environmental at the USRSP1 site as needed.
- All Safety policies and procedures will be adhered to and required by this position and maintained throughout the Quality Assurance group.
Quality:
- Update and maintain the Sort, Broken Tool, and Repack log for the shift that they are assigned to.
- Be trained to create specific sort standards and manage sorting activities. This may include reading and understanding part drawings, work instructions and standards.
- Will also be well trained in the machining line check area and can use all gages that relate to that area. They will also be responsible for making sure machine line check associates are trained and certified and can conduct audits per the direction of the Quality Supervisor and / or Quality Manager.
- Will have the ability to operate Dye Pen and Crack Check as needed and support Casting specific requirements for new model start-ups, new equipment start-ups, coordinate hardness testing and X-Ray testing.
- Will be trained and able to perform Assy Press Out Testing and Slip Torque Testing as needed specified by the Quality Supervisor, Assy Quality Engineer, and / or the Quality Manager.
- Will support the creation and completion of the JOA process. This will include working with other departments providing guidance and direction as needed. Follow up of JOA processes will be needed as well.
- Work with other departments to help determine priority and help support making sure skilled positions are covered with trained certified associates.
- Will have the ability to create Work Instructions, Inspection Standards and other procedures that relate to the Quality of the product and process.
- Will have the ability to step in and cover a CMM tech.
- Will help support Gage Calibration efforts and processes. They will also navigate the Gage Cal. Software as needed.
- Will support ISO activities and follow ups of open CARs. This person will also be trained to conduct ISO audits, opening, and closing meetings.
Delivery:
- Ensures Quality Products are being shipped to all customers in a timely manner, this includes Internal customers (Quality In Process).
Productivity:
- Works toward overall goals of meeting defined targets for project completion. This includes the Company Quality Business Plan and daily objectives as it pertains to the coordinator position.
Reporting:
- Reports directly to the Quality Supervisor, secondary reporting to the Department QE.
- Create and / or support reports to Customer, Supplier, Internal Management as needed.
- Be able to present material in-house as needed.
- Be able to present to large groups, or in a classroom setting, or to the individual.
Preferred Skills:
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.

- Must be able to work from Engineering specifications, manuals, drawings, established procedures, verbal and written instructions, use a variety of precision measuring equipment.
- Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must possess proven management / leadership skills, SPC, FMEA, all customer directed and Internal corrective action processes.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts and best practices.
Minimum Experienced Preferred:
- 2 years Automotive Quality Management Systems and Manufacturing experience.

Physical Demands:
- This position may require standing, walking, and supporting activities on the production floor.
