Job Purpose

To provide professional HR support to 2nd line managers and employees within the Bolton Site. This role is responsible for delivering HR guidance, timely and best policy practice people-related solutions, ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies, and support the effective implementation of HR initiatives.

Scope of Job

Employee Relations

Provide advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.

Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, and flexible working matters.

Support line managers with investigations, hearings, and formal meetings.

Ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently and fairly across the site.

Prepare and maintain accurate case documentation and correspondence.

Attendance Management

Manage attendance processes, working closely with line managers and Occupational Health.

Liaise with employees and external professional bodies as required.

Monitor absence levels and maintain accurate attendance records.

Support Operations with manpower planning, including coordination of temporary labour requirements.

HR Systems & Data Management

Ensure HR data is controlled in an appropriate manner and in line with UK legislation regarding Data Protection. Manage the global HRIS to maintain accurate & up-to-date HR data. Responsible for ensuring that the HR files/documentation is up to date with the latest versions of procedures, work instructions and standard forms.

Recruitment

Utilising the Talent Acquisition Team, provide information relating to any local recruitment either Indirect or Direct employees. Responsible for the final review of candidates for all Indirect positions with the final decision on recruitment from the Hiring Manager.

Liaising with recruitment sources, organise assessment centres, take part and represent HR (as required), support Hiring Manager through the full cycle to offer stage and issue of contracts.

Talent Management

To support the 2nd Line managers with processes (Appraisals, Performance Reviews and Personal Development Plans).

HR Reporting & KPI Management

Produce and distribute regular HR metrics and KPI reports.

Ensure HR reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered within agreed timelines.

Maintain records to support internal and external reporting requirements

Immigration & Right to Work Compliance

Manage Right to Work checks in line with UK immigration legislation and company procedures.

Maintain accurate records of employee visa status and expiry dates.

Monitor visa renewal requirements and communicate with employees and managers regarding upcoming actions. Liaise with employees, managers, legal advisers, and external providers on visa and immigration matters as required. Assist with audit requests and compliance reporting relating to immigration and Right to Work activities.

Provide guidance to managers on immigration processes and associated documentation requirements.

Employee Engagement & Wellbeing

Support employee engagement initiatives and communication activities across the site.

Assist with employee surveys and action planning activities. Promote a positive employee experience and working environment. Assist with the recognition of employee achievements and service milestones. Support the delivery of local wellbeing initiatives and activities in line with company programmes.

Promote employee awareness of available wellbeing resources, policies and support services, including the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

Payroll & Benefits

Support the payroll process by ensuring employee data and changes are submitted accurately and on time. Liaise with payroll providers and employees to resolve payroll queries.

Administer local employee benefits and maintain related records. Support compensation and benefits processes as required.

Typical Knowledge & Skills

Experience of working within a ‘best practice’ HR environment, ideally in a manufacturing organisation. Proven experience of handling discipline/grievance, recruitment, absence management, employee communication and handling of all day-to-day elements of HR. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with an ability to take initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to managing their work and being part of a small, business-focussed HR team. High level of confidentiality required.

Typical Qualifications and Previous Experience

CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent HR experience).

Strong knowledge and practical application of UK employment law.

Experience managing employee relations matters throughout the employee lifecycle.

Proven experience providing HR advice and support to managers at all levels, including second-line management.

Strong working knowledge of HR systems and HR data management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills.

Experience producing, analysing, and presenting HR reports and KPI data.

Strong problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making capabilities.

Commercial awareness and a good understanding of business operations.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Salary Range

£38,000 - £42,000
