Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
As a Quality Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to real Automotive Quality projects. Under the guidance and mentorship of our experienced Quality Team and the Quality Department Head, you will assist in various Quality tasks and projects, while expanding your knowledge and skills in the field of automotive Quality. This internship will provide you with valuable learning experience and a foundation for your future career in Automotive Quality.
- Assist in conducting research, data collection, and data Input.
- Collaborate with Quality engineers on how to Input and understand data.
- Assist in Quality related testing and measurement activity.
- Participate in Quality meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project reviews.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts, offering creative ideas and solutions.
- Support the implementation of quality control measures and process improvements.
- Conduct literature reviews and gather information related to Quality projects.
- Follow safety guidelines and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks and assignments as directed by the Asst. Quality Manager / Quality Department Head.
When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
Safety & Environmental:
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Adhere to environmental regulations.
Quality:
- Maintain a high level of quality assurance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the quality assurance team to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Follow established quality standards and procedures.
Delivery:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide Quality specific data that has been requested.
- Assist in the prioritization of tasks to ensure efficient project delivery.
Productivity:
- Identify opportunities to streamline Quality data collecting.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to better identify Improvements that can be made within the department and that could help other departments.
- Provide regular updates on required data entry processes and projects.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation related to Quality activities.
Preferred Skills:
- Good understanding of data analysis tools and software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word).
- Strong interest in automotive Quality.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Enthusiasm to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.
Minimum Experienced Preferred:
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in the automotive industry.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Enthusiasm to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.
Key Metrics Responsibility:
- Assist in tracking and analyzing key metrics related to Quality projects and activities.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to accurately Input and track data.
- Participate in Quality Business Plan data collection and interpretations of the data to drive Improvements.
Physical Demands:
- Perform physical tasks as required for engineering projects, such as equipment setup and maintenance.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
The duration of the internship can be adjusted based on academic requirements and the needs of the company. Start and end dates will be discussed and finalized upon acceptance.
