Summary: Support department operations in the areas of warehousing safety, quality, productivity, cost, and continuous improvement. The role of the Team Lead requires that s/he provide leadership and direction to team members as well as support operations in attaining their daily goals.
Essential Functions: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at the USBRP2 site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):
- Ensure all safety guidelines are followed, including but not limited to:
- Modeling and enforcing PPE requirements
- Ensuring all warehouse machines, including forklifts, are in good working order
- Identifying and closing potential safety risks
- Reporting/escalating safety risks
- Utilizing and teaching stop-call-wait to ensure a safe work environment
- Seeking to improve safety environment daily
- Ensure all process guidelines are followed, including but not limited to:
- Monitoring daily process check sheets and documentation
- Following standardized work and training by using standardized work
- Properly utilizing measurement tools (i.e.: scales, measuring tape), as applicable
- Using problem-solving processes to investigate and countermeasure problems
- Understanding basics of providing quality parts to customer
- Support area cost management including is not limited to:
- Proper scrap management
- Team member overtime daily
- Reducing equipment downtime
- Producing desired quantity (eliminate overproduction, extra trucking)
- Supporting department supervisor in managing operation budget
- Ensure proper 5S of area, including but not limited to:
- Standard location for all operational tools
- Establishing and maintaining good workplace organization
- Managing all end of shift requirements for team members
- Establishing and maintaining good visual control for the area
- Ensure team members are developed and well-trained, including but not limited to:
- Training using standardized work
- Utilizing training level system and training matrix
- Developing priorities and managing accordingly
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner. - Knowledge of processes in required areas
- Must have good judgment, organization, and leadership abilities
- Must be able to understand and uphold the quality levels for each process in responsibility
- Knowledge of shipping products and fork truck experience
Experience: Prior experience preferred, but not necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities may be possible to perform the job duties as designated by area management.
Working Conditions: Physical Demands:
- Standing - Up to 10-12 hours per day to assemble parts
- Lifting - Parts and supplies, up to 40 pounds repetitive lifting
- Carrying - Parts and supplies, up to 40 pounds repetitively
- Maneuvering - Use mechanical assistance, various levers
- Walking - Retrieval to placement of parts, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Reaching - Upward and downward reaching to retrieve parts, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Handling - Various supplies/parts of different weights, up to 40 pounds repetitively
- Seeing - Parts assembly and inspecting, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Finger Dexterity - Small parts assembly, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Repetitive Work - Assembling parts and stocking supplies, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Overtime - Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime requirements, more than 40 hours per week.
Travel: Less than 5% of domestic travel may be required as needed.
Work Environment: Working in a manufacturing warehousing environment with exposure to office and laboratory areas as well.
