Boost your business in terms of contracts

I am in charge of contract review. We will review and revise contracts to be concluded with business partners and group companies while checking for legal risks.

Since Astemo is a global company, we will also respond to contracts and authorities that occur at our bases around the world in cooperation with local personnel and, in some cases, with the cooperation of lawyers and other specialists. You may think that contract review is a job of checking the wording of a contract, but it is important to consider what kind of risk the contents of the contract may pose in the real business.

Therefore, when a request for an examination is made, it is necessary to hear about the products and technologies to be handled in the contract and the content of the work to be outsourced, and communication skills and understanding of the business to be realized are required. One of the most interesting aspects of this job is the process of understanding the structure of the business you are aiming for and incorporating it into a contract so that it will be in a form suitable for its realization.

Originally, I had a longing for dramas that took the world by storm, so I was aiming to become a prosecutor.

After graduating from law school, I have been studying law while working as a staff member at a university's legal research institute. At the institute, I had many opportunities to interact with lawyers and corporate legal professionals, and I learned that there are many places outside the courtroom where one can utilize legal knowledge and negotiation skills.

After meeting at the institute, I began to aspire to become a corporate legal practitioner as one of the ways to study law. I decided to join Astemo because I thought that I could make effective use of the knowledge and experience I had learned so far at Astemo, which is expanding its business globally.

A Day at Work

8:30	Arrive at Work	Prepare for a regular meeting.
10:00	Meeting	Attend a project meeting involving multiple departments. Consult with a supervisor on actions for the next phase.
13:00	Lunch
14:00	Contract Review	Participate in contract review hearings and draft or revise contracts.
18:00	Prepare to Leave Work	Check emails and review the next day's tasks.
18:30	Leave Work	Go to a bouldering gym about three times a week to stay active while working from home.

Useful Learning and Experience

Leverage your coordination skills at the organization

The legal knowledge and legal reasoning skills that I gained in my undergraduate and graduate studies are directly helpful in my legal work.

My knowledge of civil matters has been important knowledge for me when handling contracts, and on the other hand. At the same time, I feel that the thought process I have cultivated through my study of criminal matters, which seems unrelated at first glance, is also useful in dealing with areas of compliance.

In my previous job, I not only deepened my legal knowledge but also acquired coordination skills within an organization, such as collaborating with a large number of stakeholders to shape new projects.

I am able to make use of this in my current position, which requires communication with many stakeholders.
