The driving force behind Astemo's growth is respect for differences such as gender, nationality, race, religion, background, age, disability, and sexual orientation, understanding these as a person's individuality, and utilizing them as organizational strengths.

We bring together diverse strengths, excellent teamwork, and extensive experience in the global market to maximize our potential and become a global leader.

Promoting Diverse Work Styles

In order for diverse human resources to better work how they wish and achieve results, we have created an environment where they can choose flexible work styles regardless of time or place. We have developed work styles such as a flex-time work system without core hours as well as a remote work system. We also distribute mobile tools that enable secure and powerful work, and strive to realize efficient and diverse work styles.

Towards Better Work-Life Management

Two days off per week (Saturday and Sunday). Twenty-four days of annual paid leave. Together with holidays and year-end and New Year holidays, there are more than 130 days off per year. We have also introduced hourly paid leave that allows employees to take paid leave on an hourly basis. In addition, we have a leave system in place to support life stages, such as childcare leave, nursing care leave, leave to care for family members, maternity leave, refreshment leave, and fertility treatment leave.

Pursue the Career Path You Envision, Even After Childbirth

Before giving birth, I was concerned that I would be assigned only menial tasks after childbirth. However, those worries turned out to be unfounded. When I returned to work, my then-supervisor asked me how I wanted to work. I wanted to continue working as I had before, but I was worried that I might inconvenience others. My supervisor heard me out and created a supportive environment for me.

They even entrusted me with the significant responsibility of being a project leader. Now, I am in a position to oversee my own junior employees. I always keep in mind what my supervisor did for me back then: I listen to every individual about how they want to work and create an environment where they can take on challenges.

I Plan to Take Childcare Leave Again

I took childcare leave when my partner was discharged from the maternity hospital. After childbirth, it was important for my partner to recover, so I took on the household chores and childcare. Our company's childcare leave system allows for a total of three years of leave until the child finishes the first grade of elementary school, so I plan to take childcare leave again when my wife returns to work. My department and colleagues have shared kind words with me, saying, ""Cherish the time with your child.""

Recently, I have been working from home more often. I have been taking on new tasks in which I have no experience, and I am more mindful of communication with stakeholders and work efficiency. While there are challenges, I appreciate being able to use the time saved from commuting for household chores and childcare. I am working every day, balancing my time working and my time off.

Diverse Perspectives and Opinions Have the Power to Create New Things

My responsibility for researching materials for suspension products involves the challenge and excitement of creating something new. In a previous project I was involved with, when discussing with members from overseas locations, they presented completely different approaches to the same subject. I was surprised by their opposite way of thinking, but experiencing diverse perspectives and opinions broadened my horizons significantly. Despite language differences, we advanced our discussions by understanding intentions through technical terms and using drawings and diagrams. Language is just one tool for communication. While language skills are important, I realized that the effort to understand the other person's intentions and the attitude of trying to convey one's thoughts help in understanding. Currently, my own child is little, so there are times when I need to take sudden leave or leave early. With the support of my colleagues, I make use of remote work, strive to visualize and share progress, and work hard within the limited time I have. I will continue to pursue technical learning and focus on materials.
