“We have freedom to work independently, and we also are part of a professional management team which makes us accountable for our actions and results.”

Harish, Regional Finance Director, Brake Business Unit, Asia

Being part of the senior management team for Astemo’s brake business in India means being actively involved in shaping strategic initiatives. We’re given the autonomy to lead with independence, while also working within a strong, results-driven management culture that holds us accountable. It’s a dynamic environment that pushes us to grow both professionally and personally.

I’ve been with the company for six years now. As the second-largest player in India’s passenger vehicle brake market, we operate in an industry that’s both fast-paced and demanding. Managing costs and protecting margins is always top of mind. What makes the work even more rewarding is our open, inclusive culture - everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make an impact.

I lead the accounting, tax, and controlling functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, driving annual business planning, and implementing controls to track performance against targets. My role also involves evaluating business cases and supporting the regional head on key business and operational decisions. In addition, I oversee the legal, company secretarial, and IT functions in India, working across teams to strengthen governance, enable business continuity, and support strategic growth.

Being part of Astemo is a truly global experience. Our teams include people from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds, and that diversity shapes how we work and grow. Collaborating with colleagues from different cultures both within India and across regions has broadened my perspective and taught me to approach challenges in new ways. We’ve even had international team members based here in India, which has added to the richness of our day-to-day interactions.

In the finance function especially, we actively exchange best practices across regions and business units. This culture of knowledge-sharing and diverse thinking plays a big role in driving the company’s success.
